Troops arrest armed robbers, rescue abducted woman in Adamawa

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded fresh security successes in Adamawa State with the arrest of two armed robbery suspects and the rescue of an abducted woman during separate operations in Mubi North and Hong Local Government Areas. The operations were carried out as part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and protect residents from criminal activities.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the first incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on January 29 after troops received a distress call from Barama community in Mubi North LGA. Soldiers quickly moved to the area and arrested two suspects who were allegedly attempting to rob a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. One of the suspects was shot in the thigh while trying to confront the troops and was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, for treatment before being handed over to the police.

Recovered items from the suspects included three cutlasses, two laptops, four mobile phones and a power bank. The arrests, according to security sources, were made possible through swift response and cooperation between residents and security forces in the area.

In a related operation, troops working with local vigilantes carried out a fighting patrol along the Amtasa–Washim axis in Hong LGA on January 28. During the patrol, terrorists were engaged and forced to flee, leading to the rescue of a woman who had been abducted. Weapons recovered included an AK-47 rifle, a sub-machine gun, and several rounds of ammunition, as troops continued to comb the area to ensure safety.
