The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo State has deployed over 2,000 personnel to ensure safety during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. The move is aimed at maintaining peace before, during, and after the festive period.
According to the State Commandant, officers have been drawn from several specialised units, including counter-terrorism and disaster management teams. They have been positioned across key areas in the state’s three senatorial districts.
Security will be strengthened in busy locations such as markets, prayer grounds, highways, and recreational centres. The command also noted that it will collaborate with other security agencies to ensure effective coverage and quick response to emergencies.
Residents, especially Muslim faithful, have been encouraged to celebrate responsibly and peacefully. The NSCDC also warned individuals with criminal intentions to stay away, assuring the public of its readiness to protect lives and property.
