An assistant coach at Arsenal has raised concerns over a set-piece tactic used by Bayer Leverkusen during their recent UEFA Champions League clash. The issue came after Leverkusen scored from a corner in the first leg.
Arsenal’s set-piece coach, Nicolas Jover, questioned whether some of the physical blocking used during the goal was within the rules. He reportedly discussed the matter with Leverkusen’s manager, Kasper Hjulmand.
Hjulmand responded by saying such tactics are common in modern football. According to him, many teams use similar methods to create space during set-pieces, making it a widespread practice rather than an isolated case.
The two sides are set to meet again for the second leg at Arsenal’s home ground. With the tie still open, both teams will be looking to secure a place in the next round.
