Fire has destroyed the studio of a radio station at Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, leading to the loss of equipment and properties worth millions of naira. The incident happened on Monday morning within the school premises.
Reports revealed that the fire started as a result of an electrical surge from the air-conditioning system in the studio.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement.
He explained that the fire was reported around 11:55 am on September 1, 2025, and officers led by PFS 11 Makinde were immediately deployed to the scene.
According to him, the studio was already in flames when the firefighters arrived, but they acted swiftly to stop it from spreading further.
He added that no lives were lost during the incident and some properties were saved despite the heavy destruction.
Akinwande also used the opportunity to warn the public about the dangers of fire outbreaks.
He advised that every building should have fire extinguishers and people should learn how to use them correctly to prevent small fires from becoming disasters.
This latest incident comes just a few days after another fire broke out at Fresh 105.9 FM in Ibadan, raising fresh concerns about repeated cases of fire affecting radio stations in Oyo State.
