President Tinubu nominates Tax reforms committee chairman, Taiwo Oyedele, as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will move to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. The nomination was sent to the Senate for confirmation.

Oyedele, 50, hails from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, and previously chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, playing a key role in overhauling Nigeria’s tax system.

An economist, accountant, and public policy expert, Oyedele holds an HND from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He also attended executive programmes at Yale, LSE, Harvard Kennedy School, and Gordon Institute of Business Science.

With 22 years at PwC, rising to Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader, Oyedele also serves as a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School, bringing extensive experience to his new role.
