Ground Rent debt: FCT Administration Begins Sealing Of Properties (Photos)

The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) has begun sealing properties in Abuja as part of a major operation to recover unpaid ground rent. This move targets over 4,700 property owners who have failed to pay what they owe.

Earlier on March 18th, 2025, the FCT Administration revealed that it had lost more than N6 billion in revenue. This huge loss came from property owners who have not paid their ground rent for more than ten years, causing a major shortfall in government funds.

Some popular and well-known properties are included in the list of defaulters. Access Bank located in Wuse, Abuja, and the Total Filling Station in Wuse Zone 5 are among the affected places now facing enforcement actions from the FCTA.
