Phyno – Why Most Artistes’ Careers Crash When They Get Married

In a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, popular Nigerian musician Phyno opened up about why many music artistes’ careers face setbacks after marriage. He explained that the music industry is highly demanding and all-consuming, making it difficult for artists to balance their professional and personal lives.

Phyno pointed out that the pressures of the entertainment world, combined with the responsibilities of marriage, can often lead to a decline in a musician’s career. For many celebrities, tying the knot can mean less time and energy to focus on their work, resulting in a slowdown in their professional growth.

Phyno’s insights highlight the tough reality that many musicians face when trying to balance fame and family life, and how marriage can sometimes lead to professional struggles.

Phyno said …

“Look at the statistics – most celebrities’ careers tend to struggle after marriage. Music is a demanding career, almost like a jealous one. That’s why some people drop out of school to fully focus on their music. For those who manage both, they deserve respect because it’s not easy. Sometimes, after gaining some fame, people go back to school and continue from where they left off, because you really have to focus on one thing. Music takes up all your time.

Another point is that music reflects your life experiences, unless you’re using songwriters. If you write your own songs, you can’t sing about happiness when you’re dealing with the stress of a relationship.”
