Abia Comets Football Club has relieved its Technical Adviser, Coach Dipreye Teibowei, of his duties following a series of poor performances in the Nigeria National League. The decision came after a disappointing Matchday 12 defeat to Sunshine Stars in Aba.

The club had earlier given the coach a two-match ultimatum before the second phase of the 2025/2026 season resumed. However, management said results did not improve as expected.

Monday Eguavoen has now been appointed to lead the team until the end of the current season. The change takes immediate effect.

Despite stepping aside, Teibowei will continue to receive his salary through the end of the campaign, according to the club’s management.
