The National Industrial Court in Kano has rejected requests by some former commissioners seeking to stop the state government from retrieving official vehicles given to them while in office. The applicants wanted an interim order to prevent the move pending the hearing of their case.
The former officials argued that the vehicles formed part of their conditions of service and should remain with them after leaving office. They listed the Attorney General, the governor, and the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission as defendants.
Justice Mahmood Abba Namtari, however, declined to grant the temporary injunction. He ruled that the defendants must first be notified and allowed to respond.
The matter has been adjourned to March 10 for hearing of the substantive applications, where the court will consider the full arguments from both sides.
