Two mosques in the United States have organized memorial gatherings for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following reports of his death during a recent US-Israel military operation. The events were held in Manassas, Virginia, and Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
In Virginia, organizers shared a flyer inviting people to a Ramadan “Potluck Iftar” in his honor, referring to him as “our leader.” The Michigan event took place at the Islamic House of Wisdom, where religious leaders addressed worshippers.
During the service, Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi criticized the reported military action, calling it unjust and questioning the reasons behind it. He also raised concerns about claims linked to Iran’s nuclear program.
Speakers at the gathering mentioned reports of civilian casualties in Iran. As of the time of reporting, US officials had not issued any public response regarding the memorial services.
