The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has committed to compensating residents who will be affected by the construction of a major new road in Abuja. The road, known as Arterial Road N5, stretches from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III and aims to improve connectivity across the city with a 4-kilometer, six-lane dual carriageway.
Minister Wike gave this assurance after inspecting the project at various sites, including Life Camp and the International Conference Centre. The new road, set to enhance transportation in Abuja, will impact some cash crops and houses in its path. Wike reassured residents that his team would handle any required compensation fairly and swiftly.
According to Wike, compensation will vary based on the needs of each resident. Some may require financial compensation, while others might need relocation, depending on the impact on their property. “We’re committed to working alongside the communities affected to find practical solutions,” Wike said, stressing the importance of collaboration with locals to ensure the project’s success.
The construction project, officially launched on October 25, is part of Wike’s larger effort to improve infrastructure in the FCT. The government’s goal is to enhance roads and transportation options in the capital, making commuting easier and faster for residents.
As work progresses on Arterial Road N5, affected residents can be assured that the FCT Minister’s office is addressing their concerns. This approach reflects a balanced plan to develop Abuja’s infrastructure while respecting and compensating those impacted.
