Russia vs Ukraine: London European summit produced no result, no plan – Russian lawmakers

A summit of European leaders in London on Sunday ended without a concrete plan to resolve the ongoing war in Ukraine. Russian lawmakers were quick to criticize the meeting, calling it unsuccessful and lacking direction.

Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Russia’s upper house of parliament, shared his views on Telegram. He argued that Europe had no real strategy for Ukraine and suggested that Kyiv’s only hope lay in better relations between Russia and the United States.

He accused Britain and the U.S. of pushing Ukraine toward conflict with Russia for the past decade and claimed the summit was an attempt to cover up that failure.

According to Kosachev, both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer likely understood the reality of the situation.

Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the lower house’s Committee on International Affairs, also dismissed the summit, saying it would not help Zelenskyy after his difficult meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. He accused Zelenskyy of trying to regain political credibility but said the attempt had failed.

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now a senior security official, criticized the London meeting before it even ended.

He described it on X (formerly Twitter) as a gathering of leaders pledging support to what he called “Nazi nobodies” in Kyiv, calling it an embarrassing event.

Despite the European summit, tensions between Russia, Ukraine, and Western countries remain high, with no clear solution in sight.
