Air operations under Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major breakthrough in Borno State, targeting strongholds linked to Islamic State West Africa Province. The strikes focused on insurgent hideouts in the Kangarwa axis, known for terrorist activities.
According to security updates, the air raids were based on credible intelligence and executed with precision. Key gathering points and infrastructure used by the insurgents were hit, disrupting their operations significantly.
Initial battle damage assessments revealed that no fewer than 15 ISWAP fighters were neutralised, while several others sustained serious injuries. The strikes also destroyed structures believed to be used for coordination and shelter.
A building linked to a senior commander identified as Malam Nuhu, reportedly the group’s leader in the area, was also targeted. Although he escaped moments before the strike, others inside the structure were eliminated.
Security analysts say the operation highlights improved targeting capabilities by the Nigerian military. The strikes are part of ongoing efforts to weaken insurgent networks and reduce their operational strength in the North-East.
Military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained offensives, combining air and ground strategies to restore peace. Further assessments are ongoing as operations continue across other areas affected by insurgency.
