The National Association of Nigerian Students has raised concern over over 25,000 Nigerian graduates who are yet to be mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps, even seven years after completing their studies in the Republic of Niger.
According to the group, what should have been a normal transition into the national service has turned into a long delay. Many affected graduates are now left in uncertainty, unable to move forward with their careers.
NANS described the situation as unfair, calling it an institutional failure that has negatively impacted thousands of young Nigerians. The group said the delay has stalled opportunities and created frustration among graduates.
The association warned that if the issue is not addressed quickly, it could lead to wider concerns, including diplomatic tension between Nigeria and the Republic of Niger. It urged authorities to take immediate action.
Many of the affected graduates say they have been waiting for years without clear communication or resolution. This has made it difficult for them to plan their future or secure employment.
NANS is calling on the government to intervene and ensure that all eligible graduates are mobilised without further delay. They emphasized that resolving the issue is important for both fairness and national development.
