“Repentant” terrorist confesses to participating in Ngoshe attack as troops foil attack plan on Adamawa barracks

Soldiers from the 232 Battalion, working with local hunters, arrested three suspected terrorists during a search operation in Mubi North, Adamawa State. The operation was carried out around 1:15 a.m. on April 1, 2026, in the Angwan Rami area after receiving credible intelligence about terrorist activities.

The suspects—Ado John (27), Umaru Yunusa (22), and Alhaji Saleh Mamman Ibrahim (44)—were found to have links with terrorist groups operating in the region.

One of the suspects, Alhaji Saleh Mamman Ibrahim, who was previously known as a repentant fighter, reportedly confessed to taking part in the deadly Ngoshe attack in Borno State, where Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters killed several civilians and soldiers, and more than 100 residents were abducted or declared missing.

He also admitted to working as a double agent and allegedly planning an attack on the Mubi barracks to steal weapons. The suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation, while security forces have reaffirmed their commitment to continue operations against terrorism in the North-East.
