PSC chairman urges new police leadership to embrace strategic governance

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, has urged newly promoted senior police officers to adopt strategic leadership.

He gave the charge during an induction programme held in Abuja for Deputy Inspectors-General and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police.

Argungu stressed that modern policing requires innovation, technology, and global cooperation to improve efficiency and public trust.

He encouraged officers to embrace accountability, transparency, and integrity as key elements of effective governance.

The PSC chairman also highlighted common public complaints, including unlawful arrests and excessive use of force, urging leaders to address them.

The programme brought together key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and promote reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
