The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 620 personnel across Abia State to ensure safety during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. The move is aimed at maintaining peace before, during, and after the festive period.
State Commandant, Chukwuemeka N. Odimba, said detailed operational plans have been given to officers across all local government areas to guide their duties.
He explained that priority will be placed on protecting critical national assets and infrastructure. This includes government facilities and other sensitive locations across the state.
Special units such as the Rapid Response Squad, Tactical Team, and Counter-Terrorism Unit have also been mobilized. They will carry out patrols in busy areas, recreational centres, and other high-risk locations.
The command assured residents that officers will act professionally while carrying out their responsibilities. It also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
Odimba called on Muslim faithful to use the period to pray for peace and unity in Abia State and Nigeria, stressing the importance of collective efforts in maintaining security.
