Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has alleged that the Federal Government is not in support of his plan to contest in the 2027 presidential election. He made this claim while speaking about the need for credible elections.
Obi, who is a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, said he has faced several political challenges in the past. He noted that his journey has been filled with setbacks and legal battles.
According to him, he experienced political isolation at different times, including periods when he had to fight for his mandate in court. He said these experiences have made him stronger.
The former Anambra governor insisted that he is not asking for special treatment but only a transparent and fair electoral process. He stressed that democracy must be built on credibility.
Obi further claimed that those in power have access to strong networks and influence, which gives them an advantage. Despite this, he maintained that he remains committed to his political ambition.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to support free and fair elections, saying that the country’s future depends on credible leadership and a level playing field for all candidates.
