Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s former monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, has indicated he is willing to serve as a transitional leader if political changes occur in Iran. He said his goal would be to help the country move toward a democratic system of government.
Pahlavi has lived in exile since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, which removed his father from power and established the Islamic Republic. Despite being outside the country for decades, he believes many Iranians still support his role in a potential transition.
His comments come amid rising tensions in the region and reports surrounding the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Pahlavi suggested that such developments could create conditions for major political change within the country.
According to the prince, any transitional leadership would focus on restoring stability and allowing the Iranian people to choose their future through democratic elections. He emphasized that his role, if accepted, would only be temporary until a new leadership structure is decided.
