Former Nigerian international, Mutiu Adepoju, has outlined how the Super Eagles can stop Algeria in their upcoming AFCON 2025 match. He said Nigeria must focus on tight defence and quick transitions to counter Algeria’s strong attacking play.
Adepoju advised that the Eagles should mark key Algerian players closely and avoid leaving space in the midfield. He noted that controlling possession and being patient in attack would reduce Algeria’s chances of scoring.
He also suggested that set-pieces could be a vital opportunity for Nigeria, and the team should practise taking advantage of corners and free kicks. Adepoju stressed the importance of discipline and teamwork to execute the game plan effectively.
Finally, the former international encouraged the players to remain confident and calm under pressure, saying that mental focus and determination could make the difference in this crucial AFCON clash.
