Insecurity: Nigeria needs more US airstrikes – Security expert

A security expert has called for increased airstrikes by the United States in Nigeria to help combat rising insecurity and terrorism. The analyst argued that coordinated air operations could significantly weaken the capabilities of armed groups in affected regions.

According to the expert, Nigeria’s security forces face challenges in tackling heavily armed insurgents, and US support could provide a strategic advantage. Airstrikes, he said, would disrupt terrorist supply lines and reduce attacks on civilians.

The specialist emphasised that any foreign support should be coordinated with Nigerian authorities to ensure operations are effective and do not harm local communities. He stressed the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration between the two countries.

He also urged the Nigerian government to complement international assistance with stronger local security measures, including increased patrols, community policing, and better resource allocation to affected areas.
