Amotekun arrests 39 suspects fleeing US airstrikes

The Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun, has arrested 39 people suspected of fleeing from northern Nigeria following recent airstrikes reportedly carried out by the United States military. The Commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the arrests were made as part of efforts to prevent criminals from entering the state.

Adeleye explained that Amotekun has increased patrols, checkpoints, and intelligence gathering to protect Ondo from infiltration by bandits and other criminal elements. He said the arrests were made across different parts of the state as security operatives monitored movements and responded to suspicious activities.

While parading some of the suspects in Akure, the commander said others were arrested over alleged offences such as kidnapping, armed robbery, violations of anti-open grazing laws, and abuse-related crimes. He stressed that the corps is working closely with other security agencies to maintain law and order.

The Amotekun commander thanked the police, army, DSS, civil defence, vigilantes, and members of the public for their support. He assured residents that security agencies will continue to work together to keep Ondo State safe and prevent criminal groups from gaining a foothold.
