The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has warned that the global shortage of aircraft may continue until 2034. According to the airline body, delays in aircraft production and delivery are putting pressure on airlines around the world.
IATA explained that manufacturers are struggling with supply chain problems, shortage of skilled workers, and slow production rates. These challenges have made it difficult for airlines to replace old planes or expand their fleets to meet rising passenger demand.
The airline group said the prolonged shortage could lead to higher ticket prices and fewer flight options for travelers. Airlines may also be forced to keep older aircraft in service longer, increasing maintenance costs and operational risks.
IATA has urged aircraft makers and governments to work together to resolve the issues affecting production. The association stressed that fixing the supply crisis is important for global travel growth and long-term aviation stability.
