Trump threatens to ‘blow up’ the world’s largest gas reserve if Iran continues attacking Qatar

US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States could “massively blow up” Iran’s South Pars gas field if Tehran continues attacks on energy infrastructure in the Gulf.

The statement follows Israeli strikes on the South Pars field, the world’s largest shared gas reserve between Iran and Qatar, which escalated tensions in the region.

Iran retaliated with attacks on Qatari liquefied natural gas facilities, prompting Trump to caution that any further aggression would face a strong US response.

Global energy markets reacted sharply, with Brent crude rising to $114 per barrel and European gas prices spiking amid fears of supply disruptions.

Authorities in the UAE and Qatar reported damage and operational shutdowns at key gas facilities, while concerns grew over the security of the Strait of Hormuz shipping route.

World leaders, including France’s Emmanuel Macron, have urged restraint, warning that continued escalation threatens global energy security and civilian safety.
