The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has informed residents of Adamawa and Taraba States that there will be a week-long power interruption. According to the company, the outage is necessary to allow major maintenance work on critical electricity infrastructure. YEDC explained that the repairs are aimed at improving supply reliability once the project is completed.
The company stated that engineers will be working on transmission lines and key equipment that have been affected by age and recurring technical faults. These repairs, it said, cannot be carried out safely without shutting down power temporarily. YEDC appealed to customers in both states to be patient and assured them that the work will help reduce future breakdowns.
Communities in the affected areas have been advised to make alternative arrangements for the period of the outage. Businesses that rely heavily on power supply are also encouraged to plan ahead to avoid major disruptions. Some residents expressed concern about how the blackout may affect daily activities, but many agree that stable power in the long run is worth the temporary discomfort.
YEDC promised to keep the public updated on the progress of the project and restore electricity as soon as work is completed. The company said it is committed to providing safer and more efficient electricity services across its coverage areas. Residents have been urged to report any emergencies or faults during the outage period for quick response.
