Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has shared the names of the two people who inspired him the most while growing up. The Galatasaray striker made the revelation after helping his team secure a strong 3–0 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League. Osimhen, who scored a stunning hat-trick in the match, said his biggest role models were his elder brother and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
Speaking about his childhood, Osimhen explained that his brother’s dedication to hard work motivated him to chase success. He recalled how his brother used to sell sports newspapers on the streets in Nigeria, walking between cars and standing by the roadside to earn a living. According to him, seeing that level of determination pushed him to develop the same level of hustle and drive in his life and career.
The forward also revealed how watching Drogba shaped his football dreams. Growing up, Osimhen admired the Ivorian striker both on and off the pitch. He said he tried to study Drogba’s style of play and lifestyle, using the Chelsea legend as a guide for his own journey in football. Drogba’s influence helped him develop his passion, confidence, and hunger for success.
Osimhen added that his brother played the biggest role in his real-life motivation, while Drogba served as his football inspiration. He credited both figures for helping him become the player he is today. The 26-year-old striker has continued to rise in his career, making a strong name for himself as one of Africa’s most talented forwards.
His recent hat-trick against Ajax has further boosted his status, earning praise from fans and football analysts worldwide. As Osimhen continues to shine for Galatasaray and the Nigerian national team, many young players now look up to him the same way he once looked up to his brother and Didier Drogba.
