Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze has been ruled out of his team’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United this Saturday. The Nigerian international is still recovering from a calf injury he picked up while on international duty with the Super Eagles two weeks ago.
Chukwueze also missed Fulham’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend, and manager Marco Silva has confirmed that the forward is yet to regain full fitness. The coach explained that several key players remain sidelined due to injuries, which has affected the team’s selection options ahead of the Newcastle encounter.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Silva said, “Joachim Andersen, as we expected, has a muscle injury and won’t be available for the Newcastle match. Antonee Robinson is also out, Chukwueze still out, and Rodrigo out as well.”
The former Villarreal star, who joined Fulham earlier this season, has made only two Premier League appearances so far. Fans are hopeful that Chukwueze will return to action soon to strengthen Fulham’s attacking options as they aim to climb the league table.
Fulham will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Arsenal when they face a strong Newcastle side at St. James’ Park, but the absence of key players like Chukwueze could make the task more difficult.
