Former Liverpool and England midfielder Danny Murphy has identified Declan Rice as the most important player in Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad as they push for the Premier League title this season. Murphy believes Rice’s consistency, physical strength, and tactical intelligence make him central to Arsenal’s title hopes.
According to Murphy, Rice’s influence on and off the ball has been crucial since joining the Gunners from West Ham United in 2023 for £105 million. Despite the arrival of new signings like Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard, Murphy insists that Rice remains Arsenal’s “main man” and the heartbeat of their midfield.
“They’re not reliant on one or two players anymore,” Murphy said. “But Declan Rice is massive for them. He brings energy, composure, and leadership. His athleticism and pressing ability make a huge difference. Arsenal can win games without him, but he’s still the key figure in that team.”
Arsenal currently sits three points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, with Rice continuing to play a pivotal role in their strong start. His recent performance in the Champions League, where he assisted Gabriel Magalhaes in a 4–0 victory over Atletico Madrid, further highlighted his growing influence under Arteta.
With Rice’s form and fitness holding strong, Arsenal fans are hopeful that the club can finally end their 22-year wait for a major trophy and lift the Premier League title under Arteta’s leadership.
