Why I joined APC – Murray-Bruce

Former Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has revealed why he decided to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The former lawmaker explained that his move was not about political affiliation or personal gain, but rather a show of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and his ability to rebuild Nigeria’s struggling economy.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time with Arise Television, Murray-Bruce emphasized that what truly matters in governance is leadership, not political parties. He described political parties as “irrelevant” when compared to the vision and direction provided by a capable leader.

“It’s about leadership, not the party. Forget about party — parties are irrelevant. It’s about the man at the top. President Tinubu has shown that he can lead Nigeria, he can fix the economy, and he can put together a dream team,” Murray-Bruce said.

He urged Nigerians to be patient, explaining that the country’s economic recovery will take time. According to him, President Tinubu inherited a deeply troubled economy and is gradually working to restore stability. Murray-Bruce likened Nigeria’s situation to that of “a patient recovering from major surgery,” saying recovery will not happen overnight.

The former senator concluded by expressing optimism that with the right leadership and commitment, Nigeria will eventually bounce back stronger under the current administration.
