The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced plans to temporarily close parts of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Road in Lagos on Saturday, October 18, 2025, to conduct its regular 10-kilometre Walk/Jog Fitness Exercise. The temporary restriction is expected to last between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
According to a statement released by the Command Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Abigail Ologun, the fitness event is part of NAF’s continuous efforts to promote physical health, well-being, and operational readiness among its officers and airmen. The exercise is an important routine that helps improve the endurance and alertness of military personnel.
The statement also urged motorists and residents around the Murtala Muhammed Airport axis to use alternative routes during the exercise, as movement will be restricted between Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) for the two-hour duration.
Ologun assured the public that the Air Force had made necessary security and traffic arrangements to ensure the activity goes smoothly. She added that NAF personnel, along with other security agencies, will be on-site to manage traffic flow and ensure safety throughout the exercise.
While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, the Command appealed for public understanding and cooperation, assuring that normal traffic movement will resume immediately after the exercise ends.
