Thugs attack former AGF Abubakar Malami’s convoy in Kebbi

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and ex-Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, narrowly escaped unhurt on Monday, September 1, when suspected thugs attacked his convoy in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital.

The incident happened after Malami had paid a condolence visit to a bereaved family. The attackers reportedly damaged at least 10 vehicles in his convoy and left several of his supporters injured.

Malami, who is a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi, said the attack was politically motivated. He explained that his visit to Birnin Kebbi was not for political campaigns but purely to pay condolences.

He alleged that the thugs, armed with weapons and stones, emerged from the All Progressives Congress (APC) state office and launched the attack. Malami expressed disappointment over the violence, calling it “painful and unfortunate.”

Despite the incident, he insisted he would not back down from politics in Kebbi, declaring there would be “no retreat, no surrender.”

Meanwhile, the APC leadership in the state denied any involvement in the attack.
