Former Barcelona boss Xavi has said no twice to an offer to become Bayer Leverkusen’s new head coach.

According to Marca, the German club reached out to Xavi two different times, but the 45-year-old Spaniard turned them down, saying he is not ready to return to coaching at the moment.

It will be recalled that Bayer Leverkusen recently parted ways with their manager, Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch coach was shown the door on Monday after being in charge of just two Bundesliga games.

Ten Hag, who got the job on July 1, was dismissed following Leverkusen’s 3-3 draw with Werder Bremen last weekend.

At the moment, Leverkusen are in 12th place on the Bundesliga table with just one point from their first two matches.
