2026 WCQ: Rwanda coach Amrouche lists 24 players for Super Eagles showdown

Rwanda’s head coach, Adel Amrouche, has named a final squad of 24 players for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

The coach had earlier released a provisional squad of 27 players for both matches, but Claude Smith Kayinbanda, Djabilu Ishimwe, and David Niyo did not make the cut for the final list.

Preparations for the important qualifiers began on Monday, with the team putting in training sessions to get ready.

On Tuesday morning, 20 players flew out from Kigali International Airport to Lagos, before connecting another flight to Uyo later in the evening.

Four other players — Phanuel Kavita, Bonheur Mugisha, Jojea Kwizera, and Clement Buhake — are expected to join the rest of the team once they arrive in Uyo.

Rwanda currently sit second in Group C with eight points from six games. The Amavubi will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their matchday seven clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
