Super Falcons star Tosin Demehin signs new Galatasaray deal

Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin has signed a new deal to stay with Galatasaray Women after a strong debut season that highlighted her as one of Nigeria’s rising defensive stars.

The 23-year-old centre-back joined the Turkish club in the summer of 2024 from Stade de Reims in France. She quickly became an important player, appearing in 26 matches across all competitions, scoring once, and helping Galatasaray finish fourth in the Turkish Women’s Super League.

She also played a key part in the club’s first-ever participation in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Demehin’s impressive club form came alongside her growing international career. She played every match for Nigeria at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, helping the Super Falcons secure a record 10th title.

She scored her first international goal in a 5-0 quarter-final win over Zambia. “It was a dream tournament for me; playing every game, scoring, and lifting the trophy with my teammates,” she said after the victory.

Her new contract also reflects the growing presence of Nigerians at Galatasaray, joining Victor Osimhen, who leads the men’s team, as one of the few Nigerians representing the Istanbul club.

As Galatasaray prepare for the 2025/26 season, Demehin’s calmness, aerial strength, and tactical awareness will be crucial as the team aims for better performances in both domestic and European competitions.
