Activist Harrison Gwamnishu shares video of alleged Anambra police officers forcefully entering someone’s apartment without presenting a Search warrant

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu has posted a video online showing what he says are police officers from the Anambra State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, forcing their way into a man’s home without showing any search warrant.

According to Gwamnishu’s statement, the officers accused the resident of being a cult member and insisted on arresting him. He alleged that after taking the man into custody, they demanded and collected ₦1.1 million from him.

Sharing more details, Gwamnishu wrote that some unidentified men stormed a private residence in Awka. Shortly after breaking in, they claimed to be SCID police officers.

Without showing any legal document or proof, they accused the man of cultism, entered his home by force, and arrested him.

He further claimed that the incident didn’t end there. The officers allegedly intimidated the man, demanded ₦1 million as “bail,” and threatened to send him to prison if he spoke about the incident.

Calling out the act, Gwamnishu said this kind of behaviour is not real policing but an abuse of power. He described it as criminal activity carried out under the guise of law enforcement.

He also mentioned that such unchecked incidents damage the image of the police, discourage trust from the public, and empower the wrong people.

While some officers are professional and dedicated, he warned that actions like this overshadow their good work.

As of now, the Anambra State Police Command has not issued any official response to the allegations.
