Liverpool winger Luis Diaz completes £65.5m transfer to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has completed a big move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The deal is worth £65.5 million.

Diaz, who is from Colombia, passed his medical on Tuesday in Germany. This came after Liverpool accepted Bayern’s new improved offer.

At first, Bayern offered around £58.5 million, but Liverpool turned it down. When Bayern returned with £65.5 million, including some add-ons, Liverpool agreed. The club believed the offer matched Diaz’s full value.

The 27-year-old leaves Liverpool as a Premier League winner. He won four major trophies with the Reds. Diaz said leaving the club would have been a perfect goodbye, but he is heartbroken by the recent death of his teammate, Diogo Jota.

In a farewell post on Instagram, Diaz shared his thoughts. He said he came to Liverpool full of dreams and is proud of all he achieved.

He also thanked his teammates, coaches, and fans for making Liverpool a special place. He said the club and its people will always remain in his heart.

Although he leaves as a champion, Diaz admitted the tragic loss of Diogo Jota made his exit very emotional. He said Jota will always be remembered by him and everyone at the club.

Luis Diaz joined Liverpool from Porto in January 2022 for £37 million. He scored 41 goals in 148 matches during his time at Anfield.

In his first season, he helped Liverpool win the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. He also played in the Champions League final in 2022, where Liverpool lost to Real Madrid.

Last season was Diaz’s best so far. He scored 17 goals in all competitions and played a key part in Liverpool winning the Premier League.

With Diaz’s sale, Liverpool has now made about £115 million from transfers this summer.

This income is helping to cover the club’s big spending of around £270 million on new players like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is still on the lookout for more signings and is now interested in Newcastle’s striker, Alexander Isak.
