NYSC members safe in Benue – Gov Alia

Governor Hyacinth Alia has promised that members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Benue State will be safe during their service year.

Speaking at the closing event for the 2025 Batch A Stream II NYSC orientation camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area, the governor assured the corpers that the state government has taken strong steps to protect them.

He explained that extra security officers have been sent to areas considered at risk to make sure the corps members are protected wherever they are posted.

Governor Alia admitted that the state had faced some security challenges recently due to attacks on communities. However, he made it clear that his administration is fully committed to ending such problems.

He added that the government is working closely with security agencies and important groups in the state to improve safety and find lasting peace.

The governor urged the NYSC members to head to their places of primary assignment without being afraid.

He also gave a strong warning to both government and private organisations not to reject corps members posted to them. He reminded everyone that the state has a clear rule against rejecting NYSC members, and any organisation that breaks it will be punished.

Meanwhile, the NYSC Coordinator in Benue, Mrs. Veronica Garba, congratulated the corps members for finishing their orientation training successfully.

She praised their good behaviour and encouraged them to keep up the same attitude in their new places of work.

Mrs. Garba also advised them to serve with dedication and respect for the people and culture of the communities they will be staying in.
