Nobody can eliminate any tribe on earth – SGF George Akume reacts to Benue attacks

Senator George Akume, who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has spoken strongly against the recent killings in Benue State. He made it clear that no person or group can ever succeed in wiping out any tribe in the world.

Akume shared this message on June 17 in Makurdi while launching the distribution of relief materials from the Federal Government. These items were meant for people who survived the attacks in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area.

Before the event, Akume visited the attack sites and hospitals where injured victims are being treated. He described the violence as looking like an attempt to wipe out a group of people, calling it wrong and unacceptable.

He gave hope to affected communities, saying no tribe can be completely destroyed. He stressed that such a thing is impossible because God would not allow it.

To support his point, Akume talked about the Holocaust in Germany, where millions of Jews were killed. However, he noted that today the Jewish population has grown even more, proving that such acts never achieve their goal.

Akume encouraged the people of Benue, especially in Yelewata, to stay peaceful even though they are going through pain. He asked them not to give up on peace.

He also assured everyone that President Bola Tinubu is serious about protecting Nigeria’s unity and safety. He promised that the President is doing everything possible to ensure all Nigerians can sleep without fear.

Akume offered his condolences to the families who lost loved ones and asked them to keep trusting the government for help and support.

Former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, also spoke at the event. He said the country has lost its sense of compassion. He was shocked that even babies were not spared during the Yelewata killings.

Ogbe called the victims hardworking citizens who help feed the country. He warned that no nation can survive such terrible violence. He also reminded people that Benue residents played a big role in keeping Nigeria together during the civil war.

Another speaker, Senator Jacob Gyado, told residents to keep believing in President Tinubu’s leadership and the support promised by the Federal Government.

Earlier, Akume had gone to Yelewata to speak with local leaders and see how bad the destruction was after the attacks.
