Troops bust filling station loading fuel in jerrycans for Boko Haram terrorists in Maiduguri

Nigerian soldiers under Operation Hadin Kai have stopped a major fuel smuggling plan in Maiduguri, Borno State. The fuel was being sent to Boko Haram fighters operating around Gwoza and parts of Cameroon.

The troops discovered that fuel was being loaded into 500 jerrycans at Hadiza and Sadiq Filling Station. Authorities described this as a serious and dangerous act meant to help enemies of Nigeria.

According to intelligence shared with security expert Zagazola Makama, the army had been watching the activities of some dishonest fuel dealers. These dealers often use modified vehicles like Gulf cars with hidden tanks to transport large amounts of fuel.

Once transported, the fuel is poured into jerrycans and taken to areas controlled by terrorists. However, this time, the operation failed as soldiers arrived just in time to stop it.

The soldiers quickly moved in, caught several people, and arrested them on the spot.

During early investigations, the suspects admitted that they were moving the fuel toward Pulka and Cameroon, areas where many Boko Haram members, especially from the Ali Ngulde faction, are known to be hiding.

They claimed they didn’t know the exact people who would receive the fuel, saying different individuals from “various destinations” usually collect the products.
