EPL: Ex-Man United man, Tim Howard picks perfect striker for Chelsea to sign

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Tim Howard, believes Chelsea should sign rising striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.

Tim Howard, who once played in goal for Manchester United, has suggested that Chelsea should consider signing Ipswich Town’s young striker, Liam Delap. Howard shared his opinion during an interview on NBC Sports.

Interestingly, Manchester United is also keeping an eye on Delap, showing just how impressive the 22-year-old has been this season. Both Premier League giants could be preparing offer.

Since the start of the 2024-25 season, Delap has stood out as one of the best young strikers in the English top flight. Playing under manager Kieran McKenna at Ipswich Town, he has scored 12 goals in 32 league matches. His performances have made him a hot topic in the football world.

Howard said Chelsea is in serious need of a striker, and Delap could be just what they need. He added that while Manchester United may still be attractive to players, Chelsea’s young squad would suit someone like Delap. Howard believes Delap would fit in well and score plenty of goals at Stamford Bridge.

Liam Delap is currently under contract with Ipswich Town until June 2029. That means any club interested in signing him will likely have to pay a significant transfer fee.

Liam Delap is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about young players in England. With both Chelsea and Manchester United showing interest, the summer transfer window could be exciting. If Chelsea follows Tim Howard’s advice, Delap might be seen in blue next season.
