Despite being in a legal fight with social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), well-known human rights lawyer Femi Falana has now challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over VDM’s arrest and detention.
This surprising development came to light through VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. Earlier, Adeyanju had criticized Falana for keeping quiet about the arrest. However, things have taken a new turn.

On Monday afternoon, Adeyanju revealed in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he had confirmed Falana had reached out to the EFCC. According to him, Falana called the agency to question why VDM was arrested and why he is still being detained.

This action from Falana comes even though he and VDM are currently battling each other in court. Their legal case started after VDM made some statements while analyzing a voice note that claimed Falana and his son, musician and activist Falz, had spoken with Bobrisky during Bobrisky’s time in detention.
While the court case is still ongoing, Falana’s recent move shows that he is standing for due process and fair treatment—even for someone he is currently suing.
