AY Makun speaks after he was invited by the EFCC for stepping on money tossed at an event (video)

Popular Nigerian comedian AY Makun recently shared his experience after being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for stepping on money that was sprayed at a public event.

AY posted videos from the event, showing the moment that caught the EFCC’s attention.

Following this, he advised Nigerians to show more respect for the Naira and foreign currencies by handling money responsibly during celebrations.

In a message he shared, AY said he was thankful to God for His guidance. He explained that he was called in by the EFCC on Monday regarding the act of spraying both local and foreign currencies at an event. This act, he noted, is seen as a form of Naira abuse.

He appreciated the EFCC and the officials involved for understanding the situation and clearing him, especially after confirming that the money sprayed was not connected to any illegal activity.

AY described the experience as a major lesson. He now plans to help raise awareness about treating Nigeria’s currency with care and respect.

He also addressed the public, pointing out that spraying money is common in Nigerian celebrations like weddings and parties. Though many see it as a cultural habit, it can still be seen as a legal offense.

He added that damaging or misusing the Naira by spraying, tearing, or stepping on it goes against Nigerian law. Such actions can harm the value and image of the country’s currency.

AY ended his message by calling on everyone to protect the Naira. He said the Naira represents Nigeria’s strength and stability, and respecting it shows love for the country.

He encouraged all Nigerians to promote good behavior and help build a more patriotic and responsible society.
