Actor Funky Mallam decries poor power supply in his area as he recounts how a PHCN official was “mistakenly roasted to death” while carrying out his duty

Nigerian actor Saheed Muhammed, also known as Funky Mallam, has voiced his frustration over the poor electricity supply in his area. In a video he shared on Instagram, the actor explained that he and his neighbors in the Alagomeji, Yaba area of Lagos have been without power for several days.

He said no one seems to know the exact cause of the blackout. Funky Mallam also mentioned that electricity tariffs have gone up three times, yet the power supply keeps getting worse. According to him, this is surprising because many people now use pre-paid meters, which should have made things better.

‘’Who is checkmating these guys? They keep telling us that when the tariff is being increased, light is going to be constant but it has never been constant. It is even becoming worse even with the tariff that has been increased. ” he asked

In the same video, he shared a very sad story about a PHCN worker who died while working in the area. The official was reportedly electrocuted while trying to fix the power issue. Funky Mallam described the incident as the worker being “roasted to death” by mistake during the repair.

The actor called for urgent attention to the power situation, saying it’s getting out of hand and people are suffering.

‘’This guy in my area that happens to be a very popular guy in my area, Oluwole, This guy called his office to tell them that he and his team are about to work and then he climbed the pole. They turned off the light for him to start working. This boy climbed the pole, grabbed the cable and as he was working, somebody came and turned on the light and this was burnt seriously, smoke coming out from his nose, ear, eyes and everywhere. They roasted him. He fell from up TO down. This guy has dedicated his life working for PHCN and the PHCN guy came to say it was a mistake…somebody who called the office to say he is working..”put off the light because of my life and you say it was a mistake…that man is gone for good”
