Residents of 74 Lagos Street, Obohia Road, Aba, faced a tragic night on Tuesday when a fire outbreak destroyed their home, leaving them without shelter.
The fire started while the tenants were asleep and quickly spread, burning down the entire building. Although no lives were lost, the affected residents are now in distress.
The exact cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed, but some neighbors believe it was triggered by an electrical spark in one of the rooms.
Local youths and concerned community members acted fast to stop the flames from spreading to nearby houses and shops, preventing further damage.
Some victims described the incident as a terrible disaster and appealed to the Abia State government for help.
Efforts to reach the Chief Fire Officer of Abia State, Nnanna Arua, for an official statement were unsuccessful.
