The wife of former Rivers State Head of Service (HoS), Florence Nwaeke, has expressed deep worry over the sudden disappearance of her husband, George Nwaeke. She revealed that she has not heard from him since he resigned from his position.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Mrs. Nwaeke said she feared for her husband’s safety. According to her, George had informed her he arrived safely in Abuja. However, shortly after, she received calls from people saying he had given an interview. This left her confused because she was unaware of any scheduled interview.
“When he got to Abuja, he called to say he had landed safely. I was relieved,” she said. “But later, I started getting calls that he had given an interview. I was shocked because I didn’t know about any interview. When I watched it online, I said, ‘This is not my husband!’”
Worried, she sent him several messages, asking if he was being held against his will or kidnapped. However, he did not respond, and his phone lines stopped working. She made an emotional plea to Nigerians to help find her husband, saying he was in serious trouble.
Her concerns grew after the interview surfaced online, where George Nwaeke made serious allegations against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. He accused the governor of planning to support Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for the 2027 presidential election. He also claimed Fubara was meeting with militants and encouraging attacks on oil facilities.
In a separate video, Florence Nwaeke directly called on Governor Fubara to intervene, stating that her husband resigned under duress. She insisted he was being forced to confess to things he knew nothing about and that he stepped down to avoid further trouble.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, she made another heartfelt appeal, urging the governor to ensure her husband’s safety.
The situation has raised concerns about political tension in Rivers State. Many Nigerians are now calling for immediate action to ensure George Nwaeke’s well-being and safe return.
