Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide and well-known Nigerian politician, has passed away at the age of 72. Reports say he died on Friday morning after battling a long-term illness, believed to be cancer.
Okupe played a major role in Nigerian politics. In 2022, he was appointed as the Director-General of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign for the 2023 election. However, he later stepped down after being convicted in court over an alleged money laundering case.
Sources close to his family revealed that he had been critically ill in the weeks leading up to his death. His passing marks the end of a significant political career in Nigeria.
