One dead as Tesla Cybertruck explodes outside Trump hotel in Las Vegas

On January 1, 2025, a tragic explosion occurred outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, leaving one person dead and seven others injured. The incident involved a Tesla Cybertruck that had been rented in Colorado and driven to Las Vegas.

The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been identified, drove up and down Las Vegas Boulevard before parking near the hotel around 8:40 a.m. The vehicle sat there for about 15 seconds before it exploded. Authorities discovered gasoline canisters, camp fuel, and large fireworks in the back of the truck, suggesting the explosion was likely intentional.

The explosion occurred just hours after a deadly truck assault in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, prompting federal authorities to investigate any possible link between the two events. President Joe Biden confirmed that law enforcement and the intelligence community are closely monitoring the situation, including the potential for a terrorist connection.

The FBI’s joint terrorism task force is handling the investigation in Las Vegas. Jeremy Schwartz, the acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office, stated that their top priority is identifying the individual involved in the incident and determining whether this was an act of terrorism.

As authorities continue to gather information, the tragic incident has raised concerns about public safety and potential threats in the area.
