Bandits attacked Chacho community in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducting nine people and injuring two others.

A relative of one of the victims said the gunmen struck around 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2026, entering through a route linked to the Sabon Birni forest, a known bandit hideout.

Villagers fled for safety as gunshots rang out, while seven women and two elderly men were taken during the raid. The two injured residents are receiving medical treatment.

Locals blamed the rising attacks on the lack of security personnel. Police spokesperson Ahmad Rufai confirmed the attack but said the number of abducted victims is still being verified.
