Former U.S. President Donald Trump urged several countries to send naval vessels to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for global oil. He emphasized the need for joint efforts to keep the passage open amid rising Middle East tensions.
Trump specifically mentioned major economies, including China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the UK, asking them to participate in safeguarding the strait. He highlighted the disruption caused by Iran’s reported attempts to block the waterway, which handles about one-fifth of the world’s oil shipments.
The former president claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had been neutralized but warned that threats such as drones, mines, or short-range missiles remain possible. He stressed that the U.S. Navy would escort oil tankers through the strait soon to maintain safe maritime passage.
Trump reiterated that the United States is ready to take strong military action if necessary, insisting that the Strait of Hormuz must remain “OPEN, SAFE, and FREE” for international shipping and global energy security.
