Pope Leo XIV meets Nigerian Catholic Bishops in Rome

Pope Leo XIV received members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria in Rome during their Ad Limina Apostolorum visit. The tradition allows bishops to meet the Pope and report on the state of their dioceses and pastoral activities.

The visit follows the bishops’ recent conference in Nigeria, where key issues affecting the Catholic Church were discussed. Video footage showed some bishops presenting gifts to Pope Leo XIV during the audience.

Earlier, 37 Nigerian bishops met the Pope on March 6, while another group of 35 bishops held discussions on Saturday, highlighting ongoing engagement between the Vatican and the Nigerian Church.

Pope Leo XIV, elected in May 2025, is scheduled for his first apostolic visit to Africa in April, with stops in Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea.
